Inspirational Quote: "You have to go slow to go fast" ~ Kare Anderson
Notes from Lily:
I've been brainstorming about the most healthy and rapid way to support you all in creating a healthier relationship with food and your body.
And I had a thought this morning that made it clear to me. If you want to do ONE thing that will allow you to start tuning into your body and feelings and breathing through them so that you don't want to turn to food, do this starting NOW.
Eat as slowly as you possibly can. Every single meal. Every single day. Make it almost comical you are eating so slowly. This one action will allow you to really presence yourself and stay connected to your physical appetites.
So that is your invitation. Start now and everything will gradually start shifting to move you beyond the compulsion forever. You can do this...You have everything it takes...an open heart an open mind and a commitment that is always growing.
My love to you all,
You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.
~ Marianne Williamson
Notes from Lily: Aint' it the truth! Thinking "High." It's the secret to every imaginable joy.
This involves the practice of thinking about what you want rather than what you don't want. Focusing on solutions rather than problems. Directing your thoughts towards all that you have to be grateful for rather than those things that make you feel hopeless, worthless and overwhelmed.
So let me ask you. What percentage of your thoughts are positive? Take today to observe your thoughts in action. If you do this exercise, it will reveal to you on a deeper level how you think daily.
Take a piece of paper and put a line down the middle. On one side write "untamed mind" and on the write tamed mind. Any thoughts you have that judge others or yourself, that are resistant to what is today, that are worries about the future for yourself or others, that create anxiety in your body, or that focus on what happened in the past (regrets), put a mark on the side of the paper that says untamed mind.
If you think a grateful thought, a loving thought, a compassionate thought, an empowered thought or hold a vision for what you want, put a mark on the tamed mind side of the page.
Most people that do this exercise are shocked at how many of their thoughts come from the untamed mind. But knowing how dominant it is in your head is actually the first step to shutting it down.
This is an incredibly important exercise, so do it as soon as you read this. Otherwise the untamed mind will talk you out of it so that it can continue to dominate your life. You don't want that I know!
This is the training in "thinking" differently so you can "behave" differently. The more your thoughts are on the Tamed Mind side of the page, the easier it is to release excess weight ... So think high my friend!
Inspirational Quote: "The two most important days of your life are the day you are born... and the day you find out why." -Mark Twain
Notes from Lily: When I asked myself the question "Why am I here?" and "What is my life's purpose," it took me out of my regular loop of 60,000 thoughts and introduced a new concept...a new idea that allows me to experience more joy every day.
The reason I think I'm here is to evolve into the highest version of myself...not only for my personal joy, but because I honestly believe it makes the world a better place. Knowing my purpose allows me to trust that every experience, if I learn from it, is moving me towards my ultimate goal..being the strongest, wisest, most loving person I can be.
So ask yourself the question, Why am I here? Perhaps your answer is the same as mine...
No matter what your purpose is...the fastest way to achieve it is to control your thoughts...to direct them away from the counterproductive ones and towards the one that make you feel better. It is the answer to almost all of your challenges. So today...watch your thoughts with renewed attention and allow your gratitude practice to buoy your spirits when your thoughts are getting you down.
Up your ante on cherry picking only the best thoughts...you deserve to be happy and this is the only route that creates lasting change.
All my love and have a wonderful day!
Inspirational Quote: “Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.” - Winnie the Pooh
Notes from Lily: Ah the hectic and busy life! All of us are feeling it, the treadmill of doing. It's happening in our minds if not on our calendars. The antidote to doing is clearly being, and if you are not being, at least for a few moments each day, the stress is going to catch up with you!
So here's my new ritual. I'm going to stop, dead in my tracks, and sit my little derriere down and connect with the moment. Three times, once in the morning, afternoon and evening. I know when I am doing this, my internal world reflects the peace I want to feel in my external world.
So I invite you to join me starting today. Three times a day...You can pray during this time, envision something you wish to manifest, or simply get quiet. But do nothing daily...I love even writing that!
All my love!
Inspirational Quote: Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too, can become great. When you are seeking to bring big plans to fruition, it is important with whom you regularly associate. Hang out with friends who are like-minded and who are also designing purpose-filled lives. Similarly be that kind of a friend for your friends." ~Mark Twain
Notes from Lily:
Today's quote is near and dear to my heart. So often as we are trying to make the transition to making ourselves and our most basic needs a priority, we will meet with resistance. Whether it is our husband, parents, children, employers or friends, we will be met along our journey's by those who haven't learned to love themselves enough to support us unconditionally on our journey.
Often we will sacrifice our own well being for their well-being thinking that we "owe" them our loyalty in the form of bending to their will. Or perhaps it feels easier to give in than to resist.
The truth is that making yourself the priority is especially important at this stage of your journey into healing around your body. If any of the people in your life feel more like heavy weight than a bouquet of balloons, you want to reconsider the amount of time you are spending with them or get the conversation started soon around what you need from the relationship for it to thrive.
If you can't ask for what you want, it is a red flag.
Many are afraid of taking this step for fear that they will lose the relationship. And I will ask you this...What would it mean for you to lose the "weighty" relationships? Do you feel lighter around it? Fearful because it represents change?
Real love and real friendship means support in every form. Asking for this from your closest circle of friends and relationships is mandatory for a happy life. This is of course a reciprocal relationship so you will want to offer the same level of support you request.
However, if there is an imbalance in a relationship that has been going on for a while, and you choose to stay in the relationship, it means you are going to do an even more thorough job of taking care of your own needs.
Ultimately you are responsible for your happiness, it is an inside job. Being aware of the individuals that are causing the most tension in your life, and observing their unsupportive behavior over time will allow you to see that it is not only appropriate, but healthy for you to support yourself over anyone else.
Don't judge them, you will only suffer, merely make shifts in your own behavior that make up for what they are not able to provide at this time. You can always hold a vision that they will shift their behavior with the awareness that your growth will rub off on them (which it does in many cases)!
In the meantime I would ask you, have you ever made yourself a priority? If not, why not? What would it take to make yourself #1 for this week as a test run?
Try it out and see what magic unfolds.
Much love to you. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve.
Inspirational Quote: Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds ~ Bob Marley
Notes from Lily: So here we go ladies! Day one of making a gentle shift to eating in alliance with your body...It's a big day and a big deal...so I recommend marking it with something special....a one hour foot massage at Happy Feet (just $25.00), a journaling session where you write out your commitments, a walk in Mother Nature, heck even a special item you've had your mind on to purchase.
Make this day "THE" day it all started to shift. Once you get that momentum started...the ease will set in....so go all out!
The biggest key of ALL is of course managing that monkey mind, the ego, the untamed mind. If you master that one...the rest will be effortless....but until then you want to have some boundaries in place that make it easier!
1. Know your most challenging times and prep for them! Insert outloud voice here!
2. Don't keep trigger foods in the house if possible...make it so that you have to travel to get them
3. Let your internal dialogue be LOVING and patient all of the time!
4. Ask for the support of the five most present people in your life
5. Start your mornings with a little ritual to get your focus on
These are all tips I'll remind you of to keep your precious self on track!
As always my heart is with you. Thank you for the privilege of supporting you!
You'll want to remember these important facts when it comes to honoring your multi-billion dollar body:
These facts come from a cardiac specialist ... so they hold water :) Excuse the pun...
Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack
I can also add to this... my Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse. Yikeseroooo... they used to wake me up...now with water I'm free of them!
I know these facts helped me to get in my daily quota, so feel free to post or share with others. The family that drinks water together stays healthy together!
Inspirational Quote: Self-care is not about self-indulgence. It’s about self-preservation. –Audre Lorde
Notes from Lily: One of the most challenging aspects of managing the untamed mind is going to be its insisting that you are not able to make time for yourself. It will suggest that everything OTHER than your well-being is your priority.
However, your ability to care for yourself, to make time for exercise, coaching, fun and downtime is tantamount to living a joy filled life.
Here's the scoop. You may have a packed schedule, in fact I'm pretty darn sure most of you do. However, there is time for the self caring behaviors if you:
1. Reach out for help from others so that you can create the time (aka husbands, children, friends)
2. Eliminate or reduce television time
3. Use your weekends to rejuvenate and take time out for yourself
4. Eliminate anything in your life that is not bringing you tremendous joy during your free time. This may mean friends, and even family members who are not serving you...This may mean events you are involved in, or groups you are a part of that no longer serve you.
The only way you will see changes in your life is if you change your patterns, mix it up! If you continue to do what you have always done, you will get the same results...so even if it is a tiny shift towards something different..do it! And celebrate it so you are more likely to do it again. REINFORCEMENT is a powerful tool for transformation.
This is your year!...the year you took command of your lives..make it a doozy!
All my love,
Inspirational Quote: “Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Notes from Lily: I gave a presentation today for a wonderful group of women who I was guiding in the art and practice of self love. One of the ladies in the group shared the story of how she had called the police on her brother who was threatening her mother...and when the police arrived and shot and killed him.
This precious woman had been carrying the burden of thinking she was responsible for her brother's death...and her untamed mind never let her forget it.
Today is the day I hope that is largely behind her...because what I shared with her is that she wasn't holding the gun...she didn't intend for her brother to be injured in any way...she was not responsible.
I could see the guilt lift from her as she breathed in that truth, and I sensed how deep that remorse for what had happened lie within her innocent heart.
So today I ask you...what are you not forgiving yourself for? Where in your life are you holding back from cutting yourself a break? Our freedom lies in our thinking...how we think...what we choose to think...what we practice thinking.
So today and every day let your breath center you so that you can think more clearly, more selectively so you too can free yourself from the burden of the unwanted judgments of your untamed mind.
You deserve to be free of it...and you can get there as always...one thought and one breath at a time. Take three deep breaths right now to let that settle into your psyche!
Inspirational Quote: The human condition...lost in thought ~ Eckhart Tolle
Notes from Lily: In our childhood, we are exposed to ideas or repetitive thoughts...that we unconsciously memorize. Just as we memorize the words for our particular language.
Our parents, siblings, caretakers or primary caregivers install the software of their beliefs into our developing minds...and we learn to parrot that information back...because we have no other frame of reference for much contrasting belief. During those early years as our families are the people we spend the most time with...so they are the primary programmers.
The challenge is that our thoughts/beliefs become addictive...as the untamed mind draws our attention to the same ones over and over again. Our internal dialogue is what is dictating our daily reality...and it is heavily redundant.
How many times have you ran variations of judgmental thoughts towards a family member? Or yourself? Or your life circumstances? And how often do these thoughts make you feel frustrated, powerless, resentful or depressed?
If you are not in some mind management practice, it's going to be almost every day...which is why listening to contrasting and higher vibration is so important...
One of the keys is to know the script in your head that defeats you, the old story, and to create a new "story" with new dialogue that lifts you to your true potential.
It may feel exhausting to try to track your thoughts and turn them around...to create a new story. I get that...however, if you don't manage your mind...you will listen to that same untamed driven thoughts for the rest of your life. And I know you don't want to do that!
So don't feel like you have to "DO" anything more than observe your thoughts and turn them around...and actively seek our perceptions and information that raises your consciousness...the thoughts that make you feel like there isn't anything you can't do.
Then....talk about them everywhere you go. My own mind management abilities came from redundancy in terms of my talking about it...and listening to others talking about it as if for the first time so that I could cement the concepts in my head.
If it feels hard in this moment, it's only because you aren't practicing daily. So listen to your Healthy Mind ~ Healthy Weight Program...or chat with your co coaching partner about the thoughts you want to drive deeper into your consciousness...or listen to other inspirational programs with high vibration information you want to embed into your psyche.
Remember, you are always just one powerful thought away from a different state of mind....
Know you are in my heart as you go about this challenging...but infinitely rewarding journey of mastering your mind!
